JOHAN & ANNATJIE OOSTHUIZEN We have been living in Carolina since 1987. When our 4 children left home to start their own living, we decided to start a guest house in this beautiful environment.
We first had our own business namely Oosthan Agentskappe Bk where we were agents for Agro Chemicals, supplying the farmers in this area.
In January 2005 we opened the doors of Waterfront Guest House.
It is a privilege to meet people from all over the world and give them a comfortable home when they stay over in Carolina, Mpumalanga. Guests return often to experience our warm hospitality and excellent service.
MOSS TWALA Moss Twala often helps out in the garden and as handyman although he is on pension. You will often find his friendly face busy in Waterfront Guest House's beautiful garden.
JACOB MAHLANGU He was chosen by Moss himself to succeed him at Waterfront Guest House when Moss went on pension. Jacob is a general worker and gardener.
GLADYS NDABANDABA Gladys has been working with us long before Waterfront Guest House has opened it's doors and this hardworking woman just keep on working and giving her best everyday. She is working as a house keeper and also takes telephone calls and help guests to book in when needed.
JOSEPHINAH KHUMALO She was recruited by Gladys when Waterfront Guest House opened it's doors and not a day have we regretted it. She is part of the house keeping team and always does everything with a smile.
Our story
In Carolina, on the outskirts of the town, we have a beautiful view with Rooiwal Dam and veld in front of us.
When our 4 children left home and started their own living, we decided to share this beauty with other people and started renovations in January 2005.
We opened the doors of Waterfront Guest House on the first of April 2005. We had 3 rooms named after birds: Jangroentjie, Troupant & Janfrederik.
In June 2006 a fourth room was added due to the popularity of Waterfront Guest House. This room was named Loerie.
In the meanwhile we were graded by the AA as Highly Recommended and by the South African Tourism Grading Council as 4 Star.
Two new rooms, Bateleur and Mahem were built in July 2014 as we often had to turn guests away due to being fully booked. They each have their own character, just like the four other rooms where guests could enjoy their stay.
